A box of chocolate might be your Valentine's day go-to, but Häagen-Dazs is about to make you rethink that choice with its all new, limited-edition flavor. The ice cream brand is coming out with a ruby cacao ice cream bar and pint to gear up for Valentine's Day.
Ruby cacao is a type of cacao that can be found in Ecuador, Brazil, and Ivory Coast. According to the press release, cacao is influenced by its environment, so ruby cacao has to be cultivated by specific regions. The rarity of it is partly what makes it an all new flavor addition for Häagen-Dazs, said Häagen-Dazs Brand Manager, Rachel Jaiven.
"The Häagen-Dazs brand encourages consumers to indulge in the finest, and the ruby cacao collection is an extraordinary new experience for people to try," she said in the press release. "The brand has expertly paired ruby's unique, delicious taste profile and intriguing color with decadent Häagen-Dazs ice cream, offering consumers a variety of ways to experience this exceptional innovation."
Ruby cacao will be available in ice cream bars and ice cream and adds a semi-fruity taste with a hint of berries and cacao. The ice cream bars will be vanilla ice cream dipped into a ruby cacao shell and the pints will be a layered vanilla ice cream, pistachio ice cream, and ruby cacao pieces. Ice cream bars will come in boxes of three for $4.49 and ice cream tubs will go for $5.49.
At Häagen-Dazs retail locations there will be ruby cacao-flavored treats as well starting February 1, including a sundae and a dipped ice cream bar. The ice cream bar will have crushed pistachios on top of the ruby cacao bars and the sundae will feature pistachio ice cream raspberry sorbet, ruby cacao drizzle, and whipped cream.
