Online Birthday Gift Registry Use Soars in a Time of COVID

Arden Hills, Minnesota, Aug. 27, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Based on member usage collected from nearly one million signups, Giftster, a free year-round family gift registry service reports wish list sharing for birthdays is up 61% year over year.

While social distancing is not fully responsible for this uptick in usage, we’re seeing a lot of parents trying to keep their family celebrations alive and well in new ways–virtually.

Browsing family wish lists is a fun way to find out what new hobbies and items are of interest to family members that you may have not known about otherwise. And for the kids who haven’t been able to attend their favorite events or school activities–it’s a way for them to dream big simply by creating a wish list.

For parents trying to keep track of gift ideas for their children, using a year-round gift registry leads to less duplicate gifts to India online and time spent coordinating ideas between family members.

Gift-giving events can be a great source of stress and anxiety for some, without adding the state of the world on top of it. Online registries have become a great organizational tool for sharing family wish lists as well as helping choose great gifts online delivery for others they'll not only love but will also fit within a budget. In a time of great uncertainty, spending responsibly is high on the lists of many households this year.

Economist Joel Waldfogel from the University of Minnesota calculated that the nervousness and anxiety many people feel around giving and receiving online birthday gifts to India has a good reason…a $14 billion reason.

If you add up the cost from all the disappointed gift recipients, because they got a gift that was the wrong size or wrong color, you actually approach, for the entire United States, a $14 billion dollar loss of value during Christmas alone – the difference between what people pay for online gifts for him and online gifts for her what the recipients value them at.

Giftster continues to hear how families are finding joy in sharing online wish lists. They report less anxiety, less money wasted, and more joy getting exactly what they would have picked out themselves, and really appreciating it.

Every fangirl should know: Here are the dates for the BTS boys’ birthdays

If you’re like us then you’re madly in love with the K-pop sensation BTS. The band has taken the world by storm and has become massively adored around the world. As part of such a dedicated fandom, it’s no surprise that when one of the band members has a birthday, fans like to throw online parties – sending well wishes to them, posting new fancams, sharing image edits, and other celebratory acts in their honor.

However, if you’re wanting to do more than just tweet a generic “happy birthday” – which would be mildly pointless since the band members don’t have individual Twitter accounts – you’re going to need to know their birthdays in order to prep.

Here’s a list of the band’s birthdays so you know when to post that picture of a Jungkook birthday cake.

Jin’s birthday

Jin was born on December 4 of 1992 making him the oldest member of the band, making him 27 years old. This also means Jin is a Saggitarius.

His birth name is Kim Seok-jin. The name Seok-jin means great gift or “be a great treasure,” since Seok means great or large, and Jin means precious or valuable. We think the BTS Army would wholeheartedly agree that not only is Jin valuable, but he is most definitely a great birthday gift to India the world.

Suga’s birthday

Suga was born on March 9 of 1993, making him the second oldest member of BTS, but also currently 27. Being born in the beginning of March Suga’s astrological sign is Cancer.

Sudha Murthy Helps Karnataka Siblings Attend Online Classes: Gifts Laptop, Dongle And UPS

Sudha Murty, Chairperson of Infosys Foundation, helped a sibling duo from Karnataka to attend online classes. Murty gifted a laptop, internet dongle, a one-year subscription and UPS to the children on Wednesday so that they can continue their studies at home.

Bhumikaye, a student of class 10, and her brother, a class 9 student, used to climb up a hillock with a table and a car battery to attend online classes, as there was internet connectivity issue at their home. On learning about the siblings’ hardships and determination, their former teacher Ganesh approached Sudha Murty for help.

Determined to take their lessons regularly, the siblings set up a makeshift tent using dried coconut fronds and plastic sheets on a hillock near their home, reported the Times of India. They would climb up everyday with a table and the car battery and stay there. Bhavitha, their younger sister would bring them food and water from home.

Ganesh now teaches at Government Higher Primary School in Hosur in Kundapur taluk. “I taught them till Class 5 at Kunjady higher primary school and they are among the most brilliant students I have come across,” he said.

“A few days ago, their father, a daily wage labourer, called me and told me about the difficulties they were facing. He said he had somehow managed to buy two smartphones but the network was a hindrance, and sought my help. With help of my friend Raghavendra Harman, I tried to contact Sudha Murty. A report about their struggles published in a Kannada daily was an extra help,” Ganesh further elaborated.

Bhumika was ecstatic on receiving the laptop. She aspires to be a doctor while her brother is a UPSC aspirant.
