Surprise Your Lady Love with an Eye-Popping Range of Gifts and Bring a Huge Smile on Your Wife's Face on Karwa Chauth

In return, a husband expresses his love, regard, and appreciation by showering her with lovely Karwa Chauth gifts. If you are still confused about what to buy for your wife on Karwa Chauth Gifts to express your deep love and affection, then check out our list!

The Karwa Chauth Festivities

All about love and care, Karwa Chauth is celebrated all across the country. This festival is celebrated nine days prior to the festivals of light, Diwali. Specifically on the fourth day of the waning moon in the Hindu month of Kartik, around October-November.

Married women all over India observe an auspicious fast that marks the long life and wellbeing of their husband. They strictly follow the guidelines laid down by the elderly for the fast and refrain from food and water for one complete day.

The festival of Karva Chauth is celebrated by following a number of rituals as per the Hindu culture and traditions. Application Of Henna is one of them. It is considered auspicious for the married woman and forms a mandatory part of Karva Chauth rituals. Fasting is another important part of the celebrations of Karwa Chauth. After having the scrumptious meal called ‘sargi’ in the pre-dawn time, women observe a one-day fast for Karva Chauth.

In India, marriage is considered auspicious and is something beyond worldly affairs. It is a country where tying knots means promising a companionship of seven lives. As per the Hindu mythology, the willpower of a married lady is strong enough to change her husband’s bad fortune into good and even God’s ultimate decision. In India marriage is strengthened through several means and one of it is Karwa Chauth. It is considered to be the biggest occasion for the entire married woman fraternity in the country. It is said that successful completion of this fast ensures long life and prosperous future for her husband. Rituals need to be followed very carefully as it is believed that any flaw in the fast may endanger the life of your partner.

Three Stories About Karwa Chauth

There are many stories associated with this beautiful day. Here, we present those stories so that the celebration becomes more interesting and meaningful for you.

Story of Queen Veervati

Veeravati, a beautiful queen was the only sister amongst seven loving brothers. The story goes like this that as the queen was celebrating her first Karva Chauth as a married woman at her parent’s house and seeing her hungry and thirsty as a result of strict fast, the loving brothers thought of showing the moon to her in a different way. They created a mirror in a papal tree that made it look as though the moon had risen. The queen mistook it for the moon and broke the fast. And surprisingly, the moment she ate, she got a news that her husband, the king is dead. The queen was weeping the whole night and eventually, her shakti compelled a Goddess to appear and ask why she cried. The queen explained her pain to the goddess and the Goddess revealed how she had been tricked by her brothers and instructed her to repeat the Karva Chauth fast with complete devotion. It is known that when queen Veeravati repeated the fast, the Yamaraj was forced to bring her husband back to life.

Story of Karwa

The story of Karwa is such that a woman named Karwa was deeply devoted to her husband. With the intense love and dedication towards him, she had shaktis within her. Once, while bathing at the river, her husband was trapped by a crocodile. Karva bound the crocodile with a cotton yarn and asked the Yamraj (the god of death) to send the crocodile to hell. Yamraj refused. Karva threatened to curse Yamraj and destroy him. Yama, afraid of being cursed by Pativrata (devoted) wife, sent the crocodile to hell and blessed Karva's husband with a long life. Karva and her husband enjoyed many years of wedded bliss.

Story of Satyavan and Savitri

This story goes like this: Satyavan was a common man and when Lord Yamraj came to procure Satyavan’s soul, Savitri begged him to grant him life. When he did not agree, she stopped eating and drinking and followed Yamraj who was carrying away her dead husband. Yamraj said that she could ask for any other boon except for the life of her husband. Savitri asked that she be blessed with children. Yamraj agreed. And such a devoted wife, a dedicated pativrata lady, Savitri would never let any other man be the father of her children and so Yamraj was left with no other choice but to restore Savitri's husband to life.
