UPPO now ISO 9001:2015 certified

  

According to the ISO website, “ISO 9001 is a globally recognized standard for quality management. It helps organizations of all sizes and sectors to improve their performance, meet customer expectations and demonstrate their commitment to quality. Its requirements define how to establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve a quality management system.”

The website added, “Implementing ISO 9001 certification in philippines means your organization has put in place effective processes and trained staff to deliver flawless products or services time after time.”

Through the initiative of UPPO Director Flor Rissa L. Ofilada, the certification process commenced with the first meeting audit on July 15 to discuss questions and prepare the checklist for the process.

Prior to the Sept. 4 (Stage 1) and 8 (Stage 2) audit stages, the UPPO held a series of events in preparation for the certifying body. These were the mock audit (July 29), preparation of documents for the opening conference (Aug. 1), opening conference (Aug. 20), actual internal audit (Aug. 22), management review (Aug. 23), special audit (Aug. 27), closing conference (Aug. 28), and dry run with consultant (Aug. 29).

The UPPO was ISO 9001:2015 certified on Sept. 26, and its certification is valid until 25 September 2027. The UPPO received a physical copy of the certificate on Nov. 19.

To prevent certificate revocation before the end of validity, the UPPO must consistently comply with the standards’ requirements, maintain accurate documentation, conduct regular audits, promptly address non-conformities, ensure staff training and awareness, secure management commitment, carefully assess operational changes for compliance, engage stakeholders, meet all deadlines, and avoid complacency by fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Saudi Arabia’s Water Regulator receives ISO 9001 certificate

  

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture for Regulatory Affairs and General Supervisor of the Executive Body of the Water Regulator Dr. Fahd bin Saad Abu Moati said that obtaining the ISO 9001 certificate will ensure that best practices and administrative standards followed locally and internationally, are implemented by the Water Regulator, with the aim to raise business efficiency and output quality.

He pointed out that the certificate’s quality management system is based on ensuring that the beneficiary’s needs are met effectively, monitoring the level of quality and managing operations, and developing the business mechanism continuously.

The comments came during the handover ceremony of the ISO 9001 certification in saudi arabia, which the Water Regulator received after it fulfilled all the necessary requirements, in line with local and international standards in quality management.

The Water Regulator obtained this certificate after an external audit conducted by one of the accredited bodies ensured that all departments of the Water Regulator comply with the procedures followed in the quality management system.

Saudi Awwal Bank becomes the Kingdom's first bank obtaining ISO certification for quality management system in operations

 

Saudi Awwal Bank has achieved the ISO 9001:2015 certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), becoming the first bank in the Kingdom of saudi arabia KSA to receive this prestigious recognition. This certification is awarded to organizations that effectively manage and enhance quality in their operations.

The certification process involved thorough audits conducted by experts from the British Standards Institution (BSI) over the past three months, assessing various processes and procedures within the bank. This review ensured that SAB is committed to quality management and continuous improvement, allowing the bank to better meet customer expectations.

Saudi Arabia ports and LR collaborate on port management processes and certification

 

Lloyd’s Register (LR) was recently awarded a contract by Saudi General Ports Authority (Mawani) to support the development of management systems and certification preparation for four of its ports. This collaboration aims to improve efficiency, bolster operational excellence, and strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a key player in global trade.

The partnership is integral to Mawani's broader strategy to improve commercial operations at Saudi Arabia ports and increase their exposure to international markets to drive growth of national exports. 

LR will work with Mawani to develop a comprehensive set of manuals and guidelines, including quality and environmental procedure manuals. These manuals will be aligned with the internationally recognised standards set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

During the 14-month contract, LR will provide advisory ISO cetification services to Saudi Arabia four major ports; Jeddah Islamic Port, King Abdulaziz Port (Dammam Port), Yanbu Commercial Port and Jubail Commercial Port.

The scope includes comprehensive support for management systems and ISO 9001 certification in saudi arabia, and ISO 14001 certification in saudi arabia preparation, as well as Port State Control (PSC) processes and personnel training. 

LR will provide tailored training programmes to port employees, focusing on ISO standards, maritime certifications, and the latest inspection and safety protocols. Innovative digital solutions and technologies will also be implemented to further enhance the sustainability and efficiency of port operations.
