Great birthday gift’: Wildcats give coach upset of third-ranked Bruins

Mark Spigarelli celebrated his 55th birthday Tuesday with a present perfect for the Blue Springs girls basketball coach.

A signature victory.

Gift-wrapped with solid defense and big plays down the stretch, host Blue Springs held off Columbia Rock Bridge 55-51 in the Wildcats’ regular-season finale. The Wildcats will head into district play 20-5 and fresh off a victory over the No. 3-ranked team in Class 5.

“A great birthday gift online delivery and a great way to end a very good season,” Spigarelli said.

Blue Springs, ranked seventh in Class 5, won this showdown with an opportunistic defense that forced 13 Rock Bridge turnovers, the biggest one coming with 40 seconds left in the game.

With the Wildcats clinging to a 50-47 lead after four ties and seven lead changes, Blue Springs senior Aliyah Bello swiped a ball under Rock Bridge’s basket and fired it to Jada Williams, who was fouled as she drove the lane. Williams made both free throws and the Wildcats had the points they needed to hold off Rock Bridge (17-5) in the final seconds.

“That’s the strength of our team obviously, is our defense,” Spigarelli said. “We’re a work in progress on offense – some nights were good, some nights were not. We were good enough tonight on offense and real good on defense.”

Rock Bridge is no defensive slouch either. Switching between man-to-man and zone most of the game, the Bruins kept Blue Springs off-balance for most of the first half. And the Bruins’ big threesome of 6-foot-4 forward Kyrah Brodie and 5-10 guards Averi Kroenke and Eryn Puett blocked and altered shots under the basket.

“That’s what we’ve tried to do all year long – switch things up and make people uncomfortable,” Rock Bridge coach Jill Nagel said.

And Blue Springs did look uncomfortable as Rock Bridge jumped out to a 7-0 lead and ended the first quarter up 13-12. The Bruins, thanks to an early nine points from Puett, maintained a five-to-seven point margin most of the second quarter and led 23-19 at halftime.

“Their big (girl) got all the blocks and we had to figure out a way to maneuver around her and get smart, open looks and not take bad shots,” Williams said. “I definitely think we pulled that out.”

Williams only had seven points in the first half as she sat on the bench in foul trouble. That changed in the second half. She scored 11 of her team-high 20 points in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats pulled away from a 34-34 tie.

Blue Springs took the lead for good on a basket by Kayleigh Jenkins that made it 43-41 with four minutes left. But with Kroenke scoring 10 of her 20 points in the fourth quarter, Rock Bridge stayed within one to two points. The turnovers kept them from catching the Wildcats.

“A few of those were unforced and poor decisions on our part,” Nagel said. “Wish we would have taken care of the ball a little bit better, but that’s a good team – two good teams battling and they came out on top this time.”

Bello scored 13 points and Jayla Sample added 12 for Blue Springs, which ended the regular season with five straight wins.

Puett finished with 15 points for Rock Bridge, which had won eight of its last nine.

Blue Springs is now off until Monday, when it faces either Raytown or St. Teresa’s Academy in the Class 5 District 14 tournament at Raytown.

Until then, Spigarelli and his team can enjoy his special present.

“I think that should help our confidence, but all that goes out the window come Monday,” Spigarelli said.

Kid’s Birthday: Gift Ideas

Are you invited to a party devoted to the celebration of a newborn’s or toddler’s birthday ? If you haven’t yet decided what to present, we have got you covered. Here are the ideas that will not empty your pockets and be liked by parents.

Cute Clothes and Accessories
This gift can be not only cute but also useful. Despite the age, a child needs a lot of clothes as they get dirty too often. Almost every popular online shop including https://thetrendytoddlers.com/ has now got the collections of newborn and toddler clothes the styles and designs of which are so abundant and diverse.

If you have got the possibility to make a costly gift online, you can find something in the collections of the most popular brands. As an option, if you have no idea which size and type of outfit can be needed, a gift card is a perfect choice. One may think that this is an impersonal present, however, it is always better to present something that will be used rather than piled in the wardrobe.

Educational Toys
To make a choice, simply go to the store, online or offline, and ask a vendor to recommend a toy for a particular age. It is recommended to opt for a toy for the age older than a child for whom a gift is. You may not know what this baby already has. However, the chance that there already is a toy for an older child is quite low.

A busy board or busy box can become a great present that will be beloved by a baby from 12 until 36 or even more months. It is possible to order a special engraving or additional elements with the name of a child. The functionality of these toys is amazing, a busy board can keep a baby interested for even an hour. This will undoubtedly be appreciated by parents.

Remotely Controlled Toys
This is a present for a child of at least three years old. Even if a baby is a bit more than 24 months, this can be a gift for the future. At least a child’s father will love this toy, undoubtedly. There are plenty of possibilities: cars, planes, helicopters, robots, dinosaurs, and many more. Lots of them can also generate sounds, teach letters, songs, and poems. The choice depends on what you like more and the available budget.

Other Ideas?
If any of the above ideas are not what you are looking for, there can be several options. You can find popular bloggers who write about parenting and baby care and check their profiles. There will definitely be ideas of original gifts for a baby. Along with the ideas, you will find the stores where these gifts can be bought.

At the very least, you can directly ask the mother. There will be no surprise gift to India online, though, you will purchase something really necessary for this child and family if they lack something.

Flowers Online are the perfect way to say “I love you and I’m thinking about you” without saying anything at all. But, sometimes picking the right flowers can be difficult.
There are thousands of different flowers for birthday out there, and each one has its own unique meaning.
If you’re confused about what flowers to get, you’ve come to the right place. Check out this flowers for all occasions guide to learn how to pick the right flower for any occassion.

Wedding Flowers

Send Flowers online are perhaps the most important wedding decoration. Whether you’re getting married on the beach or having a traditional ceremony, you’ll probably want flowers to be a part of your special day.
With wedding flowers, trends change from year to year, so the biggest thing to keep in mind is to choose flowers that complement your wedding colors. For example, if you’re wedding colors are light blue or blush rose, then we suggest choosing pastel-colored flowers. Peonies, baby’s breath, or white carnations would be a great choice.
If you have deeper, richer colors for your wedding, then we suggest choosing darker-colored flowers like roses, red dahlias, or the chocolate cosmos flower.
There really isn’t a right or wrong way to do wedding flowers, so have fun with your selection.

Sympathy/Funeral Flowers

Before you buy flowers for a funeral, you should always ask the family if they prefer flowers or if they prefer a charitable donation. If the bereaved is accepting flowers, choose something that can be viewed during the service and then taken home after or laid on the grave later.
Also, regardless of which flowers you choose, make sure to include a sympathy card with the bouquet. That being said, here are some of the best types of funeral flowers:
  • Chrysanthemums
  • Lilies
  • Roses
When buying these flowers, the color is very important. We suggest sticking to shades of blue, white, and green, as these colors symbolize humility, calmness, and peace.

Birthday Flowers

Whether they’re for a significant other or a best friend, flowers make an excellent birthday gifts to India online .
When choosing a birthday bouquet, we suggest trying to find out the recipient’s favorite flower. If you don’t know their favorite flower, then here are some good choices:
  • Pink Carnations: These symbolize gratitude
  • White Carnations: These symbolize remembrance
  • Forget-Me-Nots: These say “I’ll remember you forever”
  • Red chrysanthemums: These symbolize sharing

Christmas/Winter Holiday Flowers

If you’re headed to a holiday party, the appropriate thing to do is bring a gift. However, bringing chocolates and wine can get a little tiring. Flowers are the perfect gift to change things up.
Seeing as the poinsettia is the flower of December, this always makes a great holiday gift. You can find poinsettias in red, white, green, or even yellow. Other excellent winter holiday flowers include iris, jasmine, amaryllis, and narcissus. You can make a statement with a single stem, or, combine these flowers for a festive bouquet.

Thank You Flowers

Attaching flowers to your thank you card can really add extra sentiment to your words. When sending thank you flowers, the typical thing to do is to send a bouquet that reflects the personality of the recipient.
If you know the recipient’s favorite color or favorite type of flower, you can go from there. However, if you don’t have this information, lilies, daisies, and carnations are all a good choice.

Valentine’s Day Flowers

Who doesn’t love getting a bouquet of flowers on Valentine’s day?
While the red rose is still the most popular Valentine’s day flower, the type of flower you choose will depend on your relationship with the recipient.
For example, if you’re giving flowers to someone you’re in love with, red roses are a great option. If you’re giving flowers to a friend, yellow roses are the way to go. If you’d like to give a flower that represents chaste and pure love, then we recommend going with white roses or white carnations. Young love is represented by the primrose.
However, this is another holiday where you can cater to the recipient’s tastes when picking flowers. So, if you know which variety they prefer, this is usually the way to go.

Mother’s Day

Choosing Mother’s Day flowers delivery online is another easy one. All you have to do is pick your mom’s favorite flowers.
If your mom likes all types of flowers, consider getting a spring bouquet with all varieties and colors. If you’re not sure what to get, carnations always make a good choice, as these represent love and admiration.

Anniversary Flowers

Just as there are special gifts to India online for each anniversary year, so too are there specific flowers for each year. Here’s what they are:
  • 5 years: Daisies
  • 10 years: Daffodils
  • 15 years: Roses
  • 20 years: Asters
  • 25 years: Irises
  • 30 years: Lilies
If you’re not celebrating one of these milestones, then you can always go with red or pink roses, as these represent passion and love. The only thing we really recommend staying away from are yellow flowers, as these are a symbol of friendship.
